Coffee pods can be found everywhere these days. They have invaded the kitchen counters of every lazy human and occupied half of the aisle space in all suburban Bed Bath & Beyond locations. Even environmentalists who are staunch believers in caffeine addiction have had to compromise their morals by buying these popular K-Cups.

Nearly every company makes a single-serving cup of coffee these days. Starbucks? Check. Dunkin’ Donuts? You betcha. Cinnabon (the maker of cinnamon rolls for mall food courts) even makes K-Cups. However, there are many coffee Portion pack pods and at least a handful in your office pantry. Which one is the most worth the effort?

Josh Taves (a 12-year experience in the coffee industry, and the director business development for Denver’s Novo Coffee–one the best coffee shops in America) was our source of help. He blindly compared 19 of the most well-known K-Cups to see if he liked them. A few proved to be worthwhile drinking, but a couple impressed our judge. Here are the findings:

This spicy coffee is unique, just like the island in Indonesia where it was grown. It is full-bodied, with a pleasant mouthfeel and lingering aromas of fresh herbs and earth. There is almost no acidity. These beans are a delight to roast. They can be transformed from dark coral to tiger-orange to rich, oily mahogany. It tastes good, it’s dark roast. It is a bit nutty and chocolatey. It is also quite weak.
