Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

 The Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

For the Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×9-inch square baking pan or a similar-sized baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, which takes about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next one. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

  2. Sprinkle half of the streusel topping evenly over the batter.
  3. Add the remaining cake batter on top, spreading it evenly.
