Our Story
Natural Peet’s French Roast Brazil with the best flavor have a taste similar to freshly-roasted hazelnuts. Minas Gerais is the largest–and most famous–coffee-producing state in Brazil, located in the south-central region.
Naturais, which is Brazilian Portuguese for natural and the preferred method of preparing coffee in Brazil, refers to the bean preparation we prefer. To dry the beans from the skin to the sweet pulp and seeds, it takes a lot of sunlight. This can be done on well-tended patios where whole cherries are raked constantly, or on trees where some of the pickings are left on the branch.
Our favorite coffee farms also use the “pulped naturally” method. This involves removing some of the pulp and skin from the beginning. The “washed”, which completely removes the skin, is what we recommend in countries like Costa Rica. We find Brazilian coffees, which are lower in altitude and have less acidity, to be somewhat bland. Brazil Minas Naturais makes the most of slow sun drying to produce a sweet cup with caramel and mild fruit notes. It also has a smooth, full-bodied flavor.
