Vegan Chili Dogs

 

Ingredients:

  • 4 vegan hotdogs
  • 4 hotdog buns
  • 1 cup vegan shredded cheese
  • 2 cups plant-based chili (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced
  • Olive oil (for grilling)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Vegan Hotdogs:
    • Heat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly brush the vegan hotdogs with olive oil.
    • Grill the hotdogs for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are heated through and have grill marks.
  2. Heat the Chili:
    • While the hotdogs are grilling, heat the plant-based chili in a small pot over medium heat until it is warmed through.
  3. Toast the Buns:
    • If desired, lightly toast the hotdog buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes, until they are slightly crispy.
  4. Assemble the Chili Dogs:
    • Place each grilled vegan hotdog in a toasted bun.
    • Spoon a generous amount of warm plant-based chili over each hotdog.
    • Sprinkle vegan shredded cheese on top of the chili.
    • Drizzle with mustard.
    • Top with finely chopped red onion, chopped chives, and sliced jalapeños.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the vegan chili dogs immediately while they are hot and the cheese is melted.
